Great American Cleanup - General Information
What is the Great American Cleanup? The Great American Cleanup (GAC), sponsored locally by Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and United Dairy Farmers, is the nation's largest community improvement program, built on a foundation of individual responsibility and civic pride. In 2010, the program will mobilize well over 2 million volunteers in over 14,000 communities from coast to coast, in a total of over 30,000 'hands on' cleanup, beautification, and community improvement projects in their communities.
When is the Great American Cleanup? The Great American Cleanup spans the entire three month period of March through May, but often concentrates itself on one day of city-wide efforts. For the Greater Cincinnati area, the 2010 cleanup is set for
Saturday, April 24th. We anticipate over 10,000 volunteers to be involved in the event.
Why should people participate in the Great American Cleanup? The Great American Cleanup is not only a cleanup, it's about community
building. Neighbors work side by side to improve the quality of life in their community. By ridding their neighborhoods of litter, illegal dumping, and
graffiti they are creating a clean and safe neighborhood in which to live, work, and play. Many communities add beautification projects to their cleanup to enhance their neighborhoods.
How can I be involved?Locally, Keep Cincinnati Beautiful organizes the Great American Cleanup for Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana. Please contact Keep Cincinnati Beautiful for more information about getting involved in this year's event!
