Paint
HAMILTON CO. RESIDENTS: To dispose of water based paint, fill a plastic-lined box with cat
litter or sawdust, pour the paint into the container, and let it dry
before putting it in the garbage. Latex and oil-based paint can be
thrown away with your regular garbage, as long as it is dried. To dry
out your paint, simply mix sand, sawdust, or cat litter with your paint
and leave the lid off. Once dried, dispose with your regular garbage
(with the lid off).
If you prefer, you can drop-off your paint
at Environmental Enterprises, Inc. for a charge. Contact them at
541-1823 for pricing and hours. If you choose this method, the paint
does not need to be dried out.
Other Household Hazardous Waste
This program is for Hamilton County residents only! Participants must show proof of Hamilton County residency. If you have any questions, please call 513-946-7700 or email Susan Schumacher.
The average home has 60 - 100 pounds of hazardous waste stored in the basement, garage, or under the sink. Improper storage or disposal can cause accidental poisonings and environmental damage.
The Hamilton County Solid Waste District covers 100% of the cost of this service for Hamilton County residents to encourage proper disposal of household hazardous waste. The District pays $28.50 every time a resident drops off waste through this program. We encourage you to reduce your hazardous waste by only purchasing the amount of product you use and purchasing non-hazardous alternatives. For more information
