FAQ

How is Keep Cincinnati Beautiful affiliated with Keep America Beautiful?

KCB is one of over 600 Keep America Beautiful affiliates across the United States and adheres to all of the requirements in order to remain in good standing. This means that each year we conduct a city-wide Litter Index and Cost Benefit Analysis and submit it to KAB. We take part in yearly training, involve our community in the Great American Cleanup, and promote other KAB programs.

How can our community become a Keep America Beautiful affiliate?

Call Keep America Beautiful at 203-323-8987 or visit the Keep America Beautiful website.

How is KCB funded?

KCB was started by the City Manager of Cincinnati over 30 years ago and set up as a not for profit 501(c) (3) organization. We have a contract with the City of Cincinnati that basically covers operational expenses, and we are charged with raising programming dollars. We accomplish this by writing grants, approaching corporations to sponsor events, and by requesting goods and services.

Where do your volunteers come from?

KCB is a grassroots organization. Our volunteers come from the community usually through their community council. These community volunteers are provided the resources for cleanup and beautification projects, and they in turn solicit volunteers from their community to implement projects. KCB also finds volunteers through the schools and corporations that want to give back to the community.
