Assemblies

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful is excited to offer your school FREE environmental assemblies. We currently offer "The Wartville Wizard" and "Wings of Wonder: How Litter Hurts Animals". The target audience for both is K - 6th grade. See a detailed description of both shows listed below. There are a limited number of assemblies; therefore the schools that have reserved in-classroom programming will get priority.  We have observed that students who receive environmental education in the classroom have a greater level of understanding of the litter issues presented in these assemblies. Call us to reserve both in-classroom programming and an assembly. Contact Barb Wriston-Ruddy at (513) 352-4387.

"The Wartville Wizard"
Thanks to the
Charles H. Dater Foundation, "The Wartville Wizard" is in it's 6th season with a new cast and exciting new props!

The play is based on the children's story by Don Maddon.  This tale is about an old man who gets tired of picking up litter thrown by local townspeople and asks 'Mother Nature' for some help.  The play tackles the important environmental issues of litter in a fun and age appropriate way.  The actors are Clark Montessori High School students under the direction of drama consultant and actress, Kate Wilford. Young children love to learn from teens, and these actors do a great job as educators and role models!

In the final portion of the assembly, students recite "The Litter Pledge", led by a neighborhood Cincinnati Police Officer, thus making them "Honorary Litter Patrol Junior Officers." Each child will receive a gold badge sticker to wear after the program. This is a wonderful way for students to make a positive connection with the police, and an officer's participation in the program reinforces the criminal aspect of littering.

This FREE play is offered one Tuesday a month and is 30 minutes in length. Email Barb or call (513) 352-4387 to reserve a performance for your students.

"Wings of Wonder: How Litter Hurts Animals"
This is a new and exciting assembly that Keep Cincinnati Beautiful is offering to students, K - 6th grade, to demonstrate the harmful affects of litter on animals.
The Cincinnati Zoo has modified it's 'Wings of Wonder' bird show to include important information like what students can do to protect animals and the environment. Our students LOVE to see the live animals! The assembly is generously sponsored by the William P. Anderson Foundation.

This FREE 45-minute assembly is offered during the winter months on a limited basis. Click here to watch a piece of the show!

Contact Barb or call (513) 352-4387 if you would like to schedule a presentation at your school this winter.
