Awards

JD LoopOur Awards Program honors communities and individuals who, through ongoing efforts, are utilizing public-private partnerships to prevent littering, improve their community's waste handling practices, encourage recycling efforts, and preserve the environment in its natural beauty within these communities. We distribute over $4,000 in awards to local communities at our annual Just Desserts Awards Ceremony.

AwardsThese awards are given to organizations in recognition of community improvement, beautification and recycling activities and eligibility requirements are as follows: “Groups eligible for community awards include those that are officially recognized by the City of Cincinnati as well as cities, villages, counties, and townships in the Greater Cincinnati area participating in the Great American Cleanup. Groups recognized by the City of Cincinnati include community councils, neighborhood business associations and nonprofit redevelopment corporations (NSP, CNBU, or Economic Development). Groups such as block clubs, church groups, scouts, etc. that are not recognized under the above categories may enter on behalf of the neighborhood independently. Non recognized groups must have significant resident involvement to be eligible and some restrictions may apply.”

KCB would like to encourage you, even if you feel you have nothing impressive to enter in the contest, please enter something! Our judges represent various departments within the City of Cincinnati, as well as independent local organizations and businesses. You may be surprised to find that they have an interest in a project that has, to you, become old news!

Remember, also, that the “Five Star Volunteer Award” entry is included in the packet and is a great way to honor a special volunteer in your community!

Also, if you know of a local community organization or group that deserves recognition for their work in community improvement, beautification and recycling activities, forward them the packet. We love seeing new groups pass through our contest!
