This program is under some much needed renovation! Please read the updated information below.
Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, in partnership with the City of Cincinnati Department of Public Services, invites you to Adopt-A-Spot! This program encourages residents to improve their neighborhoods by cleaning littered curbs, sidewalks, and vacant lots, cutting grass and high weeds, planting flowers, removing signs from utility poles, reporting graffiti, and so on. Take part in this exciting and innovative program by “adopting” a portion of your neighborhood. From business districts to your own block, beautification and maintenance of your own “spot” will benefit your community in more ways than one!
· Any individual or organized group or business may participate in the Adopt-A-Spot program. Up to three individuals, organizations or businesses can adopt an area together.
· All adopted spots must be on public property or in the public right-of-way. This includes traffic islands, city-owned vacant lots, and the right-of-way between the curb and the sidewalk.
· Adopters will be expected to clean their spot once a month, but may be required to pick up litter more often if the appearance of the adopted section becomes objectionable. Quarterly reports of these cleanups should be submitted to Keep Cincinnati Beautiful using the attached Results Reporting Form. This form lets us know what you did for your spot, how many volunteers you had, and how frequently you were working. By sharing your results with us, we are able to secure more financial and in-kind donations for the community. It also gives you an opportunity to provide us with questions and/or feedback about your experience.
· All adopters are required to adopt the spot for at least 1 year. After 6 months of unreported activity, your spot will be offered up to other organizations. Keep Cincinnati Beautiful will notify you at the end of each program year to renew or discontinue your participation in the program.
In appreciation of your hard work and commitment to improving the quality of life in your neighborhood, Keep Cincinnati Beautiful will:
· Provide garbage bags and other available supplies, if needed.
· Feature each adopting individual or group on our website.
· Invite each adopting individual or group to our Just Desserts Community Awards ceremony in the Fall where each Adopt-A-Spot will be listed in the program and publicly recognized.
o Each attending Adopt-A-Spot participant will also receive a litter pickup stick and be eligible for monetary awards!
·
o It is not required to purchase a sign, however if you would like one posted, please mail a check to Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, 801 Plum St Rm 16, Cincinnati, OH 45202 along with your application information. (It usually takes 4 – 6 weeks for the sign to be manufactured and installed.)
